The follow-up was revealed in May 2022 with an intended launch on March 19, 2024. Unfortunately, due to strikes by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA), its release has been postponed.

Based on initial news, the movie “Spinal Tap” storyline revolves around England’s loudest and most punctual band, Spinal Tap, coming together for a farewell concert after a 15-year break, as per the reports. The production of Spinal Tap 2 is being handled by Reiner, Michele Reiner, and Matthew George, while Christopher H. Warner and Derrick Rossi are serving as executive producers.

Initially receiving almost unanimous praise, This Is Spinal Tap didn’t bring in substantial box office earnings. However, when it became available for home viewing, a significantly larger number of people watched it, and it soon amassed a devoted fanbase, eventually earning selection by the National Film Registry in 2002 due to its cultural, historical, or aesthetic importance, as recognized by the Library of Congress.
