Scarlett Johansson has at last disclosed her complete response to an inappropriate joke about her on Saturday Night Live, made by Colin Jost in December 2024. Johansson has frequently been the target of lewd jokes from both Jost and Michael Che during their Weekend Update segment, with these jokes often focusing on aspects of the actress’s career, physical appearance, and personal life.
Here is what Johansson had to say about Colin Jost’s SNL joke from December.
What did Scarlett Johansson say about Colin Jost’s joke?
Scarlett Johansson called Colin Jost’s Saturday Night Live joke “vulgar” and “gross.”
The Avengers actor expressed his disbelief, saying something along the lines of, ‘I couldn’t believe they went there! It was just so unsanitary,’ when talking to InStyle. He described it as being very unhygienic, even going back to old-fashioned levels of grime.
Nevertheless, Johansson admitted that the situation was amusing, mentioning that she had been told by the producers beforehand about Michael Che penning the joke. Later on, the actress from Jurassic World: Rebirth revealed that at first, she believed the joke wasn’t about her and assumed it wouldn’t be as revolting.
Later on, Johansson discussed her feelings of being overpowered when the cameras swarmed around her to record her response to the joke, describing it as “intense.” She pointed out that there were numerous individuals with lights and a camera operator present. “They were all anticipating my reaction,” she continued. “I felt like I had lost my mind,” she concluded.
Yet, the joke didn’t cause any tension between Johansson and Jost. On the contrary, they shared a laugh over it before retiring to bed at 4:00 a.m., their laughter echoing in harmony.
In December 2024, Colin Jost made a collection of jokes targeting Johansson. One of these jokes involved the topic of Costco removing roast beef sandwiches from its menu. Jokingly, Jost stated that he wasn’t upset about this and had been eating roast beef since Johansson gave birth to their son, Cosmo.
