In the shocking events of Invincible Season 3 Episode 7, fans have been left reeling and speculating over the possibility of Rex Splode‘s return from the dead. This explosion-empowered superhero met his tragic end while battling an evil version of Mark Grayson, who delivered a merciless beating. In a selfless act, Rex detonated his skeleton, which had previously been close to death in a fight with the Lizard League during Season 2.
In other words, do we see Rex Splode resurrected after the happenings in Invincible Season 3’s seventh episode?
Does Rex Splode come back from the dead after Invincible Season 3 Episode 7?
It’s uncertain if Rex Splode will rise from the dead following Invincible Season 3 Episode 7, but based on current events within the series, it appears his character may stay deceased.
Characters like Immortal and Dupli-Kate, who met their end in Invincible, have managed to return to life via different methods within this storyline. Consequently, it appears that irreversible death is an infrequent or unusual occurrence in the world of Invincible.
Regrettably, much like in the comics, Rex Splode remains deceased after the Invincible War storyline, and the Amazon Prime Video series has been sticking close to its source material while occasionally altering the narrative. Given these circumstances, it appears quite improbable that Rex will be brought back to life.
As a devoted fan, it feels like the only way I might get another dose of Rex’s antics is through a prequel or standalone story focusing on his backstory, much like ‘Invincible: Atom Eve’. Sadly, it seems we have to be patient for quite some time as creator Robert Kirkman revealed in an interview with Dexerto that the team is fully committed to the annual release of the main Invincible series. Despite their eagerness to create a Rex Splode special spin-off, they’re currently tied up with the ongoing series.
In an interview with Collider previously, Jason Mantzoukas, who voices Rex Splode, expressed enthusiasm for a potential spin-off. But playfully, Kirkman dismissed the idea, hinting that he might consider it if it centered around a younger character’s version of Rex Splode, where Mantzoukas wouldn’t be responsible for the voice.
As time moves on and I’ve taken my final bow, the essence of who I was continues to live on through my teammate and cherished companion, who later came to be known as Rex.
