Kakeru wins Capcom Cup 11 & $1 million

Over the past weekend, the final round of the Capcom Cup 11 tournament took place, offering 48 contestants a shot at claiming the ultimate Street Fighter 6 accolade and a hefty $1 million reward. This gathering showcased an elite group of global talents in the game, but it was Kakeru who emerged victorious, taking home the Capcom Cup 11 trophy and pocketing a substantial first prize.

Over the course of five days from March 5th to 9th, the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena in Japan hosted the final rounds of both the Capcom Cup 11 Finals and the Street Fighter League World Championship 2024. A variety of skilled players who had earned their place throughout the previous year were present, including Tokido, MenaRD, EndingWalker, among others. In a fierce battle at the end of the tournament, Japan’s Kakeru and Chile’s Blaz emerged as the final two competitors.

The young 15-year-old phenom, Blaz, demonstrated impressive determination against a tough lineup of opponents with his powerful Ryu game. However, Kakeru’s JP character proved to be too formidable in the end, securing a 3-1 victory over Blaz and claiming the championship title for Capcom Cup 11. As a result, Kakeru walked away with a grand prize of $1 million USD.

At such a tender age, Blaz’s performance in the competition should not be underestimated. He managed to outperform some of the most renowned players on the scene, like Singapore’s Xian, South Korea’s Leshar, and regular Top 8 contender from Street Fighter 6, AngryBird. Although he didn’t win this time, with a second-place prize of $100,000, he has proven himself as someone to watch in future tournaments. His promising future is certainly bright!

It’s been verified by Capcom that Capcom Cup 12 is happening; we anticipate more specifics in the near future. Keep an eye on our Street Fighter 6 coverage for the latest information and announcements, which you can find exclusively here at Shacknews.
