Box Office Results: Mickey 17 Underperforms, Anora Sees Post-Oscars Bump

Last weekend, Bong Joon Ho’s film, Mickey 17, didn’t do as well as expected at American movie theaters, whereas Anora climbed up to the top 10 again following its win for Best Picture at the 97th Oscars ceremony.

The film titled Mickey 17, featuring Robert Pattinson, earned about $19.1 million at the domestic box office during its debut week. Although these earnings aren’t poor, given that the movie is said to have cost around $118 million to produce, it still needs to accumulate more money (approximately $64.7 million) worldwide before it can cover its production costs, as its current global total stands at $53.3 million.

Sean Baker’s film Anora saw a resurgence in various cinemas, earning an extra $1.86 million following its successful Oscars weekend, as reported by Deadline. Meanwhile, new entries Rule Breakers and In The Lost Lands took ninth and tenth spots respectively.
