After the premiere of his movie Kanguva, directed by Siva, Suriya faced heavy criticism from fans. The film not only underperformed at the box office but also received numerous negative reviews from viewers due to various reasons. However, amidst all the backlash, it was Suriya’s wife Jyotika who defended him and his movie on one occasion.
Lately, during an interview with Puja Talwar, Jyotika explained her reasons for supporting her husband’s movie and speaking up on its behalf. Expressing her thoughts on today’s “cancel culture,” Jyotika also shared that she, like others, has criticized poor films.
Nevertheless, regarding her husband’s movie Kanguva, she admitted that the course of events seemed to shift as it received severely negative reviews. Despite this, The Dabba Cartel actress acknowledged that while certain parts were less favorable, others had merit and overall, a great deal of effort was evidently invested by the production team.
She expressed that her husband’s movie received rather harsh critiques, although it did have parts that weren’t strong. However, a great deal of effort had been invested in its creation, making it unique. What frustrated her was seeing this film receive harsher reviews than some inferior ones. It was the media’s lack of awareness that she found most upsetting.
Regarding Suriya, following a less-than-spectacular reception in his previous film project, he’s gearing up for a strong comeback with an exciting collection of upcoming films.
Indeed, following his role in Soorarai Pottru, actor Karthik Subbaraj will take on a new character in his upcoming film titled Retro, which is directed by him. In this project, he’s set to showcase a distinctly different side of himself, starring in an action-packed movie that stays true to the genre.
The opening scenes of the film are already captivating, as he showcases a distinctly vintage appearance, particularly in his hairstyle.
Additionally, Suriya is planning on taking up the role of a lawyer in an upcoming project titled Suriya45 as well.
Above all, Vetrimaaran’s upcoming film, Vaadivasal, is generating a great deal of excitement, considered as one of the highly-anticipated ventures in his professional journey.
