Experts Unveil Timeline and Cause of Death for Gene Hackman & Wife Betsy Arakawa

On Friday, forensic professionals reached a tragic determination regarding the cause of death for actor Gene Hackman: he succumbed to heart disease, with additional complications due to Alzheimer’s disease, having not eaten for a week following the loss of his wife to a rare, rodent-borne illness at their residence in Santa Fe.

On February 26th, the partly mummified bodies of Hackman, aged 95, and Betsy Arakawa, 65, were uncovered. This happened when maintenance and safety personnel arrived at the residence and notified the police about their find.

In my humble opinion, after a thorough investigation, it was confirmed that Arakawa’s untimely demise occurred on February 11, within the confines of his home. The cause was hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a seldom-encountered yet deadly disease, which is often transmitted via the droppings of infected rodents.

Hackman, in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s, apparently was unaware that his wife was dead.

Dr. Heather Jarrell, the primary medical examiner, stated that the individual was extremely unwell due to severe heart problems, which likely led to his demise. It’s plausible that he may have been oblivious to her passing.

Both deaths were ruled to be from natural causes.

According to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza, the last time they had knowledge of Arakawa’s whereabouts was on February 11, when she went out for some errands and shopping. She stopped by a pharmacy, pet store, and grocery before heading back to the gated community where she lived with her partner that evening.
