Disney’s beloved little deer is all grown up — and has gone absolutely feral.
Variety’s opinion is that “Bambi: The Reckoning,” the newest offering in the series of intense trailers from the creators behind the unexpectedly successful low-budget slasher film “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” challenges both our senses and another beloved children’s intellectual property.
In a dark adaptation of Bambi‘s tale, the once innocent deer has undergone a drastic change. He is no longer just mourning his mother’s death but is now a monstrous, mutated creature with enormous size and fearsome teeth. This new version embarks on a violent quest for vengeance, causing destruction throughout the forest. He lifts cars overhead with his massive antlers, rams into charming country homes, and pursues vacationing families in caravans. The result is gruesome, with beheadings, maulings, and lots of bloodshed. This dark retelling should be kept out of reach of children at all costs.
This summer, “Bambi: The Reckoning” will be unveiled by ITN Studio in collaboration with Premiere Entertainment.
