In late 2023, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) officially signed Will Ospreay, making the announcement at Full Gear. Previously, Ospreay had not been signed by WWE. In April 2024, Triple H, a prominent figure in WWE, seemed to make a dig at Ospreay. He stated that wrestlers who don’t embrace hard work and dedication have no place in the industry. This comment appeared to be a criticism of wrestlers who are reluctant to commit to WWE’s rigorous schedule.

Many felt that Triple H’s statements were aimed at Will Ospreay. In response, on the April 10 episode of AEW Dynamite, Ospreay retorted, suggesting that Triple H had achieved his high-ranking position in WWE not just through talent, but also because he married Vince McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon.

On the Chris Van Vliet podcast, it was revealed that former AEW International Champion Will Ospreay believes trustworthy sources have indicated that Triple H’s remarks were in reference to him.
He indicated, “He was discussing me.” However, he emphasized that he wouldn’t betray anyone by claiming it was about him. In other words, he stated, “I have people whom I won’t abandon, by saying, Yeah, it pertained to me.” Later on, Ospreay made it clear that he doesn’t harbor any animosity towards the individual.
