Where to find Ember Rufflizard – Monster Hunter Wilds

As a seasoned gamer, I can tell you that tracking down the elusive Ember Rufflizard in Monster Hunter Wilds isn’t easy, especially if your luck isn’t on your side while exploring Oilwell Basin. This native creature is camouflaged against its surroundings, dark in color, and prefers to remain stationary rather than move around much. You might miss the Ember Rufflizard entirely unless you know exactly where to search for it.

The guide for Monster Hunter Wilds, focusing on the Ember Rufflizard, provides information about their locations to aid Dareel in his research study.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ember Rufflizard location

You may guess, given its name containing “ember,” that the Ember Rufflizard prefers warm climates. Your journey will lead you to the Oilwell Basin region for this creature. The Rufflizard typically inhabits the lower regions of Oilwell Basin, particularly areas 15 and 17. According to Monster Hunter Wilds’ reasoning, it should be possible to locate the Ember Rufflizard in Area 16 as well, considering its lava-covered terrain. However, I have personally never encountered it there.

Ember Rufflizards are primarily dark blue and sport green stripes, often found perched atop rocks rather than within the lava itself. Keep a keen eye out for them as they can be hard to spot at first glance. Additionally, these creatures won’t show up on your in-game map icons, so you’ll have to trust your own observation skills.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How to catch Ember Rufflizard

To catch an Ember Rufflizard, similar to other native species, you’ll require a capture net. Unlike the skittish Dapperwings, these creatures are calm, making them easier to catch. Simply arm your net, take aim, and release it. Each successful capture will earn you five guild points.

While you’re there, consider gathering Firestone mining nodes if needed. If you’re intending to hunt large creatures in this area, take a look at our Monster Hunter Wilds guide for their specific weaknesses.
