Mike Epps Confirms ‘Last Friday’ Is Officially in the Works

On the previous Friday, it was officially confirmed that the eagerly anticipated addition to the comedy series franchise is being developed, according to Mike Epps.

Actor and comedian from “Friday After Next” recently shared with “The Breakfast Club” that the project has finally been given the green light by franchise co-creator Ice Cube. Epps stated, “He called me the other day and said we just finalized the deal. So, we’re doing the last ‘Friday’, man.” Epps then expressed gratitude towards Cube, acknowledging his role in providing opportunities for many actors like himself, Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac, and others.

In response, he expressed his trust in the script even though he hasn’t had a chance to read it fully, “I haven’t gone through the script yet, but I’m quite certain it’s excellent. And we plan to incorporate the new comics alongside the originals. We’re planning to mix DC Young Flys and everyone else with the OGs. It promises to be a fantastic time.” Additionally, Epps spoke about his desire for Chris Tucker, who played Smokey in the original 1995 film, to rejoin the cast for one final adventure. “Chris Tucker is still loved by many, he’s still Smokey,” he stated. “He paved the way for me, so Chris, if you’re tuned in, we need you again. Come back and join us.

The day began with a 1995 movie that featured Tucker and Ice Cube as the main characters in their leading roles. This was then succeeded by “Next Friday” released in 2000 and “Friday After Next” from 2002, both of which continued to star Ice Cube in the same role.

For quite some time, the fourth movie in this series has been stuck in a limbo of development because of disputes over its ownership and creative direction. However, in June 2024, it was announced that Cube and Warner Bros. have begun working on the film, thanks to the studio’s recent change in management.
