More recently, Anaswara Rajan has attracted attention following allegations by director Deepu Karunakaran, with whom she collaborated on the film Mr & Mrs Bachelor, claiming that the young actress was hesitant about participating in the movie’s publicity events.
He pointed out that the actress hadn’t posted any promotional content on her social networks. Moreover, both the director and actor Indrajith Sukumaran, who stars in the movie, claimed they had contacted Anaswara, her mother, and manager, but their efforts went unanswered.
In her recent Instagram post, Anaswara Rajan has addressed and rebutted the allegations made by Deepu Karunakaran. Through a series of posts on social media, she presented well-articulated responses to each claim, while additionally providing supporting evidence alongside her statements.
The actress initially brought up the fact that she was composing her statement due to some unfortunate events she had encountered. Subsequently, she refuted the accusations leveled against her by director Deepu Karunakaran, labeling them as damaging to her reputation. Anaswara Rajan disclosed that the film “Mr & Mrs Bachelor,” where she acted and was helmed by Deepu Karunakaran, was originally planned for a release in August 2024.

The director also alleged that the actress refused to participate in the filming unless she received payment first. In response, the actress from Rekhachithram clarified that although the director had instructed her not to leave the room until the producer had deposited her salary into her account, it was actually her decision to ensure the project was completed. She admitted that this accusation by the director affected her emotionally more than it did in terms of her career.
To elaborate, Anaswara proudly posted the character poster and trailer on both my Instagram and official Facebook page. Yet, the director has claimed that my Instagram account is managed by my dedicated fans. Incredulously, Director Deepu Karunakaran has even stated that I declined joining the film’s promotions, despite his heartfelt pleas, along with the lead actor, to grace us with my presence.
In simpler terms, Anaswara Rajan mentioned that she did an interview when the movie was scheduled to premiere in August. She pointed out that her promotional interview for the film was the only one available online. However, she explained that she didn’t receive any updates from the movie’s creators after this, and learned about the movie’s delay only two days before its release when she reached out to them herself.
After this, the young actress disclosed that she hasn’t received any formal notification about the movie’s premiere. Additionally, she stated that the director has allegedly made disparaging remarks concerning her mother and representative.
In my own words, let me share some insights about a recent situation I’ve found myself in. To this day, I remain unaware of the release date for the film in question. This uncertainty is compounded by my belief that the director, Deepu Karunakaran, intentionally orchestrated events to harm my career. His absence from all promotions and interviews supports this theory, as a key player should typically be present during such occasions.
In an interview, the actress pointed out a conversation where the director discussed some actors in the industry who had given him difficulties. Yet, he opted not to reveal their identities because it could harm the movie and his personal bond with the artists. She pondered if simply naming one of them would be beneficial for the film and their relationship.
In addition, Anaswara noted that the filmmaker had disclosed some actors he collaborated with declined to depart their trailers over insufficient payment. Furthermore, she stated that Deepu Karunakaran didn’t reveal the identities of these actors, but publicly criticized her for a minor infraction – not posting his music poster on Instagram. He thought she was still new in the industry and would not confront his accusations.
She went on to explain that she doesn’t want to play the role of a “victim” due to her gender. She then disclosed that she had submitted a formal grievance to the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), as she is one of its members. The actress also hinted at taking formal action against the director if he persists with his defamatory statements. Additionally, she warned YouTube content creators and Vloggers that they could face legal consequences for sharing inaccurate information about the matter.
The actress indicated that she’s ready to participate in the film’s promotions if informed ahead of time. Notably, she mentioned that she set aside time to promote all three movies released this year, and she feels it’s not just a contractual requirement but a personal responsibility to promote films she’s involved with. Subsequently, Anaswara provided evidence in the form of photographs to support her statements.
The movie titled “Mr & Mrs Bachelor” is known for its romantic comedy genre. It boasts a diverse cast that includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Gibin Gopinath, Dayyana Hameed, Rosin Jolly, among others, alongside the popular actress Super Sharanya. Arjun T Sathyan wrote the script, while Pradeep Nair and Sobin K. Soman were responsible for the film’s cinematography and editing.
