It’s no secret that satisfying every fan when it comes to balancing is a tall order, but there’s a particular “A tier gun” that The Finals fans are in agreement about: it needs to be un-nerfed as it currently feels virtually useless.

As a passionate follower of Reddit’s gaming community, I find myself joining the chorus of fans urging Embark to reverse the adjustments made to the Model 1887 in The Finals. This versatile shotgun is a go-to weapon for those playing as Medium class characters.

According to CheesyDipster’s post, a weapon that was previously strong (A-tier) has become nearly unusable due to adjustments made by Embark. The specific update mentioned is not explicit, but it appears to be related to the changes introduced during the Halloween event in update 4.5.0. Here are the modifications Embark implemented for the Model 1887 at the end of October 2024:

* Reduced the damage per shot from 36 to 32
* Increased the spread by 15%
* Lowered the reload speed from 1.9 seconds to 2.1 seconds
* Decreased the hip-fire accuracy multiplier from 0.7 to 0.5

These changes seem to have significantly impacted the weapon’s performance.

  • Increased inner pellet radius from 0.45 to 0.65, making the weapon less accurate at longer ranges

In a recent update, Embark indicated that they reduced the power of the weapon due to its overuse in the current game strategy, or meta. Embark stated, “We’ve noticed an increase in its usage, particularly among skilled players, which has resulted in it being excessively common in matches and contributing to a repetitive meta.” The adjustments made aim to “break this pattern without making the weapon less effective than its comparable counterparts such as the AKM, Famas, and Pike-556 in terms of performance.

As a passionate gamer, I’ve got to say, I’m among those who aren’t pleased with Embark’s initial design choices for the Model 1887. The fire rate is painfully slow, the range leaves much to be desired, and the damage it deals is disappointingly low. It’s a shame, because this shotgun had potential.

In a recent attempt, I found that it hardly inflicts any damage, as mentioned in one Reddit comment. Another user lamented that what once was an S+ tier weapon has now become nearly unusable, describing it as ‘divine’ before the changes. A third comment criticized the developers for making adjustments that render one weapon obsolete to force players to use a different one.
