Happy Gilmore 2 Release Date Reportedly Set for Adam Sandler Movie

As a gaming aficionado, I’ve just got some thrilling news to share – it looks like we’re finally getting our hands on Happy Gilmore 2! This long-awaited sequel to the 1996 comedy classic has reportedly found its release date.

Adam Sandler-led Happy Gilmore 2 release date is all but confirmed

The report from February 2025 stated that Conor Sherry, a cast member of Happy Gilmore 2, is scheduled to have its premiere on Netflix on July 25, 2025. However, other significant entertainment outlets do not appear to have reported this, and the Netflix Tudum article published earlier in the same month did not specify July 25 as the release date.

1996 saw the release of Happy Gilmore on February 16th, and it turned out to be both critically acclaimed and financially successful. In recent times, talks about a possible sequel have gained momentum, with Adam Sandler himself expressing his interest in it. This sparked further speculation. Then, in March 2024, Christopher McDonald, who portrays Shooter McGavin, confirmed the rumors, revealing that the sequel was indeed in development and that he had read a draft of its script, with Sandler sharing his ideas for the story.

The project eventually landed with Netflix instead of Universal Pictures, who distributed the original movie in the U.S. The writers responsible for the first film, Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy, were also involved in writing the sequel’s script. Kyle Newacheck, famous for directing 2018’s Game Over, Man! and 2019’s Murder Mystery, was at the helm of this project. On his 58th birthday in September 2024, Sandler announced via Instagram that production for Happy Gilmore 2 had started. By December, filming concluded.

Originally, Sandler had mentioned that Happy Gilmore 2 might come out sometime around July 2025. Alongside Sandler and McDonald, Julie Bowen and Dennis Dugan will reappear as Virginia Venit and Doug Thompson in the upcoming film. Ben Stiller, who had an unaccredited role in the first movie as Hal L., is set to return for this sequel too. Other stars joining the cast include Bad Bunny, Eminem, Travis Kelce, among others.
