Approximately twenty-three years following their memorable kiss at the 2003 Oscars, Halle Berry recreated that kiss alongside Adrien Brody during the red carpet event of the 2025 Academy Awards.
In a video posted by Access Hollywood on TikTok, Berry surprised Brody during his interview. Berry then apologized to Georgina Chapman, Brody’s partner at the time, before playfully kissing Brody, reenacting their famous moment from 2003.

During a chat with Variety, Berry mentioned that she needed to “repay him” and this encounter backstage was one of the rare instances where she’s seen him on a red carpet event.
Berry expressed, “That evening was extraordinary for both of us, and it was particularly special for him. To share in his triumph… Tonight, I felt compelled to reciprocate. I’ve witnessed him at social gatherings before, but tonight was the first time I saw him walking the red carpet since that night. This year, he’s been nominated, and indeed, he deserves this recognition.
Their kiss recalls an iconic event from 2003. At the 2003 Oscars, Berry was presenting the Best Actor award. When Brody won for The Pianist, Berry surprised everyone – even Brody himself – by leaning in to give him a kiss. Later, she humorously commented that the moment wasn’t included in the “gift bag.
