In every Mission: Impossible movie so far, Ving Rhames has been a constant cast member alongside Tom Cruise. This trend will continue in the eighth installment of the series, Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning, set to hit U.S. theaters on May 23, 2025, distributed by Paramount Pictures. While promoting his latest boxing film, Uppercut, Rhames had nothing but kind words for his fellow actor.
What did Ving Rhames say about working with Tom Cruise?
Rhames shared that one of his most memorable experiences was collaborating with the cast and team on the Mission: Impossible series, particularly getting to know and interact with Tom Cruise. He noted that Cruise is exceptionally considerate towards his co-actors and crew members.
Over time, he proved to be unique among men I’ve encountered, as he appears to ignore racial differences. He once shared with me an anecdote about his adopted African American son, who asked him why he seemed to oppress Black men. Sharing this story was meaningful to me because it was something I hadn’t experienced before in my life.
The plot for Mission: Impossible 8 goes something like this: ‘People are defined by their decisions, and Tom Cruise reprises his role as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.’
Christopher McQuarrie is both the director and co-writer for this movie. In fact, he’s been a key figure in the Mission: Impossible franchise, having directed Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015), Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023). He has also directed The Way of the Gun (2000) and Jack Reacher (2012) in the past.
In addition to Tom Cruise, the cast of Mission: Impossible 8 features Hayley Atwell playing Grace, Ving Rhames reprising Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Vanessa Kirby portraying Alanna Mitsopolis, Esai Morales joining as Gabriel, Pom Klementieff taking on the role of Paris, Mariela Garriga as Marie, Henry Czerny appearing as Eugene Kittridge, Holt McCallany depicting Bernstein, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman playing Sydney, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett starring as Erika Sloane, Shea Whigham interpreting Jasper Briggs, Greg Tarzan Davis portraying Degas, Charles Parnell making an appearance, and Frederick Schmidt being part of the ensemble.
