Russo Brothers Unleash Back-to-Back Avengers Frenzy

At a recent Los Angeles debut of Netflix’s “The Electric State,” at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood, the filmmaking pair Joe and Anthony Russo shared tidbits about upcoming Marvel films “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” scheduled for release in 2026 and 2027.

Everything is happening in London, we’re filming scenes close together, it means more work for us, whether we make it through or not remains to be seen, but we’re definitely looking forward to it,” Joe Russo explained. “We’ve discovered an approach to the story that we believe will intrigue audiences, it’s tough for us to bring to life, and it’s really energizing for us – it motivates us to get up every morning.

When asked about whether upcoming films will finally bring together characters from the X-Men universe or Deadpool, Joe Russo was evasive, saying, “Well, time will tell. I’m not sure. I’m not even certain which characters we’ll see. I’m still in the dark myself.

In response, Anthony Russo playfully replied, “Close your eyes and let your imagination run wild. You can picture whoever you find appealing, whoever sparks your interest.

In this project, we’ll see a collaboration with writer Steven McFeely once again, along with his partner, Christopher Markus. The duo has been responsible for penning the scripts for all previous Marvel films directed by the Russo Brothers.
