The second act of Destiny 2: Heresy is fast approaching, and based on leaks, it seems we’ll be introduced to a fresh game mode that players are excited about. Additionally, some players have managed to obtain weapons yet to be released. Although leaks offer a glimpse into what awaits Destiny 2 enthusiasts, Bungie has recently disclosed that there will be adjustments (nerfs) for Act 2. These upcoming changes in Destiny 2 have sparked debate among fans, with some claiming that Bungie is effectively eliminating an entire weapon category or archetype.
New Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Act 2 nerfs
On X, Bungie has announced the following nerfs for Destiny 2 Heresy Act 2 via Destiny2Team:
- Tuning Sword Logic Damage against players in PvP.
- We will be adding this perk to more weapons in the future and need it to be in line with our other damage perk options in the PvP sandbox. This will not affect PvE efficacy.
- Reducing the handling stat on Redrix’s Estoc.
- Walking back some of the buff that Lightweight Pulse Rifles received in Destiny 2 Update 8153.
- Note: These will still perform better than pre-buff. Just reducing the damage buff slightly to lower some of the forgiveness.
The buffs Lightweight Pulse Rifles received in update 8.1.5.3 are as follows:
- Increased body shot damage from 17 to 20.4
- Increased critical hit damage from 31.45 to 31.6
Further information regarding the mentioned adjustments will be shared in an upcoming TWIT (Tweet or Twitch announcement) as we approach the release of Act 2 on March 11th. The reason for these alterations is that Bungie recognized Redrix’s Broadsword Competitive Pulse Rifle performed slightly overpowered in the Crucible (PvP game mode).
In response to the planned balance adjustments on Reddit, it appears that player sentiment is split. One popular comment with over a hundred upvotes reads, “I absolutely DESPISE balancing an entire playstyle due to one gun. Honestly, all they needed to do was nerf the excessive damage per second and sticky hip fire on that specific weapon. Moreover, they’re going to alter sword logic damage as well.
As a gamer, I’ve seen some chatter suggesting that instead of adjusting the Lightweights, perhaps the PR-55s should have been the focus. On another note, there’s this buddy saying, “Dude, Sword Logic didn’t need that tweak, lol,” while players are alleging that Bungie is intentionally weakening pulse rifles to boost the popularity of hand cannons as the go-to meta.
Despite some criticisms surrounding the upcoming adjustments, there are gamers who support Bungie’s strategies. One comment goes, “Lightweights were quite strong even before the boost, and they will still be superior to their previous state.” Another comment states, “The entire archetype received excessive buffs [and] If they merely nerf Redrix, players would simply return to any other pulses, and no significant change would occur.
It appears that some Destiny 2 players are obtaining unreleased weapons ahead of schedule, including a weapon that seems to have an “80% damage increase” perk and is possibly tied to the pre-order bonuses for Apollo.
