However, among all his planned projects, it’s the movie Vaadivaasal, directed by Vetrimaaran, that consistently captures everyone’s attention. Lately, the director has revealed some thrilling updates regarding this film.
At the latest Vels Nakshatra gathering, movie director Vetrimaaran was asked by the crowd for news about his upcoming project with actor Suriya.
In response to the inquiry, the director finally spoke up and disclosed that the principal photography for Vaadivaasal is set to commence between May and June of 2025. At present, preparations for the film featuring Suriya are being actively carried out.
In a blink of an eye, the video of the director’s reaction spread like wildfire across the web, sparking excitement among many who are eagerly waiting for the release of this highly-anticipated blockbuster, knowing that a brilliant actor and skilled filmmaker are joining forces on this project.
On January 15, 2025, Kalaippuli S. Thanu, the producer of Vaadivaasal, posted a joyful photo featuring Suriya and Vetrimaaran, indicating that the film’s production had officially begun, aligning with the festive occasion of Mattu Pongal.

As per previous news, the movie is anticipated to form a trilogy and will maintain the lavish style characteristic of films directed by Vetrimaaran.
Beyond this fact, Vaadivaasal is known as a revenge story taking place during the Jallikattu festival in Tamil Nadu. The narrative centers around the lives of two characters, Pichhi and Marudan, who strive to subdue a bull that had previously bested Pichhi’s father in a past competition.
Meanwhile, we have some exciting updates! The much-awaited Tamil romantic action drama “Retro,” directed by Karthik Subbaraj and set for a summer release, will feature Suriya alongside Pooja Hegde as the main characters.
In addition to his role in Soorarai Pottru, the actor is set to appear in another project named Suriya 45, where he will be joined by Trisha Krishnan as the main star.
