Why Did Aaron Kaufman Leave the Gas Monkey Garage for Good?

Aaron Kaufman played a significant role on the Discovery Channel’s series, Fast N’ Loud, which focused on the Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, Texas. As a key mechanic at this workshop, Kaufman gained widespread recognition through the show. However, he parted ways from the main cast of Fast N’ Loud back in 2016. Despite the passage of nearly nine years since then, viewers are still intrigued about the reasons behind his departure from the hit television program.

Here are all the details.

Here’s why Aaron Kaufman left Gas Monkey Garage permanently

At the close of 2016, Aaron Kaufman parted ways with Gas Monkey Garage. This separation was portrayed in episodes of Fast N’ Loud. Looking back on his choice, Kaufman shared with Richard Rawlings, the owner of Gas Monkey Garage and the leading personality of Fast N’ Loud, “I took a break, and I believe I have other projects – other ventures with different partners – that I want to pursue.

The TV personality added, “To quote Stevie Nicks, I think I have to go my own way.” (via MIC)

Initially, Kaufman referred to his time away from the show as a long holiday, but later clarified that he was leaving it permanently. Subsequently, he appeared on his own series, “Shifting Gears with Aaron Kaufman,” which ran for two seasons in 2018.

In a blog post, Rawlings apparently declared that he had no role in Kaufman’s departure, which took him by surprise. He explained, “I feel compelled to share that this decision wasn’t mine and came unexpectedly. ‘Out of the blue’ would be an understatement. Aaron has been an integral part of Gas Monkey Garage since its inception, and it will be challenging to carry on without his skills. This is a significant blow to GMG, but let me make it clear that implying we can’t function without him would be disrespectful to everyone here who has dedicated years of effort.

Notably, Kaufman has also appeared in The Gymkhana Files and Aaron Kaufmann.
