In March, there will be a significant price drop for the PlayStation VR2, which was initially released in February 2023. Since its launch, Sony has added several first-party games, welcomed numerous third-party titles, and made the device compatible with PCVR (PC Virtual Reality). Despite this, Sony admitted that the hardware didn’t meet sales expectations and hasn’t actively supported it much over the past couple of years.
This week, Sony disclosed the reduced cost for the PS VR2 in a PlayStation Blog post. As of March 2025, the device will retail at $399.99 USD, €449.99, £399.99, or ¥66,980. The price drop comes from its initial launch cost of $549.99 USD. The package still includes the PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controller, and stereo headphones. Interestingly, a bundle that incorporates Horizon Call of the Mountain is also available for the same $399.99 price point, as per the webpage.
Starting March, PlayStation VR2 is available at a new great price. Full details

Also curious is how much weight Sony puts on third-party titles that are available on the PS VR2:
This move by Sony for the PS VR2 is quite intriguing. Initially, we noted that its virtual reality performance on the PS5 was impressive at launch, but Sony seems to have been somewhat lenient with promoting and supporting it following less-than-expected sales. However, if you were holding off due to cost, your patience will be rewarded in March as prices are expected to drop. Keep an eye out for further updates right here on Shacknews.
