Lanterns Photo Gives First Look at DCU’s Hal Jordan & John Stewart

The initial image from Lanterns, the first official photo, has been released, offering viewers a sneak peek of the forthcoming DC Universe series that will air on HBO at a later time.

The newly released image marks the start of filming for the series, as HBO and James Gunn confirmed its production commencement. This series secured an official greenlight from HBO in June 2024, approximately a year and a half after it was initially unveiled to the public back in January 2023, when the 8-episode project was first announced.

Who is shown in the first Lanterns photo?

In the latest snapshot, Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler are displayed, portraying John Stewart and Hal Jordan respectively. They’re captured strolling along a street, with Chandler’s character, Jordan, sporting his Green Lantern Corps ring on his hand.

In addition to Pierre and Chandler, the series “Lanterns” will feature Ulrich Thomsen playing the role of Sinestro and Kelly Macdonald portraying Sheriff Kerry. Furthermore, Poorna Jagannathan will join the cast as Zoe in the upcoming series.

The production of Lanterns will be overseen by Chris Mundy, known for True Detective: Night Country and Ozark, alongside Damon Lindelof from The Leftovers and Watchmen, and Tom King, who has worked on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Notably, Lindelof and King are also collaborating to co-write the series.
