Even though it’s still some time until “Wonder Man,” starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, premieres on Disney+, the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries is already receiving favorable comments. In fact, Marvel Studios’ TV Head, Brad Winderbaum, recently declared in an interview that the forthcoming series is “the best show nobody’s ever seen.
Brad Winderbaum loves Marvel’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen-led Wonder Man series
The executive producer of the X-Men ’97 series has confirmed that Wonder Man will appear in a total of eight episodes.
Brad Winderbaum shared with Collider that this new Marvel series is something fresh, directly crafted by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest. In truth, he considers it one of his all-time favorites. He believes it’s an undiscovered gem, and he’s eager to witness the audience’s response. Essentially, he feels it’s a heartfelt tribute to our work as filmmakers.
As stated by Winderbaum, Wonder Man is described as an ode to acting as a vocation and a genuinely heartfelt, beautiful production. The Marvel series was conceived by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, with the former directing the 2021 MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and the latter penning scripts for shows like 30 Rock, Community, Suburgatory, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
During the same interview, Brad Winderbaum mentioned that the lengths of the episodes would vary slightly. He explained that the shortest episode runs for approximately 20 minutes, while the longest one lasts around 40 minutes.
Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, ‘Wonder Man’ is a film adaptation of the Marvel Comics character named Wonder Man, created by Stan Lee, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby. In June 2022, it was announced as one of the projects Director Cretton had been developing for Marvel Studios. At that time, the project was still in its initial stages. Filming began in April 2023 in Los Angeles, California, and continued for approximately a year before concluding in April 2024.
Wonder Man premieres on Disney+ in December 2025.
