What happens in the Sacramento trailer?

In the movie trailer for Sacramento, Michael Cera’s character Glenn sets off on a journey with his pal Ricky (played by Angarano), after the passing of Ricky’s father. Jessica Stewart portrays Rosie, Glenn’s spouse, who urges him to take this road trip.

After his father’s passing, adventurous and carefree Rickey (Angarano) convinces his longtime buddy Glenn (Cera) to embark on a spontaneous road trip from LA to Sacramento. Fed up with Rickey’s Peter Pan tendencies, Glenn’s wife Rosie (Stewart), who is pregnant, urges him to take the journey as a means of reconnecting. In the well-worn seats of Glenn’s old college convertible, the duo faces their troubled lives, acknowledging past blunders and pondering their uncertain futures.

The screenplay for Sacramento was jointly penned by Angarano and Chris Smith. In addition to this, they both assume the roles of producers for the movie, a role shared with Stephen Braun, Chris Abernathy, Eric B. Fleischman, and Sam Grey.

In addition to Maya Erskine (known for Pen15 and Mr. & Mrs. Smith), actors Angarano, Cera, and Stewart are featured in the same film as well.

Angarano is set to direct his second full-length film after the release of Avenues in 2017. He’s also appeared in numerous other films, such as Almost Famous (2000), Seabiscuit (2003), Sky High (2005), Red State and Haywire both in 2011, The English Teacher (2013), The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015), Oppenheimer (to be released in 2023), Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 (scheduled for 2024), and many more.

Initially showcased at the 2024 Tribeca Festival back in June, the movie “Sacramento” is set to hit U.S. cinemas on April 11, 2025, distributed by Vertical Entertainment.
