In Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll find the Goldenfish side quest at Scarlet Forest base camp, where Kanya is fishing by a rock by the water. Upon talking to her, she’ll task you with catching the elusive Goldenfish. This guide will help you capture it. Once caught, return to Kanya to claim your rewards.

Where is the Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the elusive Goldenfish can appear in various spots. However, I managed to spot it at the location given on the Windward Plains map, specifically Area 14: Groundwater Vein. After fast traveling here, take a stroll forward and you’ll receive a prompt to dive when you reach the water’s edge. This allows you to access the designated area on the map. Once there, move cautiously to the right, and chances are you’ll catch sight of the Goldenfish. I found it in this spot 4 out of 5 times, and even just now upon reloading the map, I found it twice consecutively after catching it. If it doesn’t appear initially, try resting and setting Plenty or Morning as your map option from your tent.

How to fish and capture the Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds

To catch the elusive Goldenfish, first, select the Golden Bughead bait using the d-pad, then proceed with fishing as usual. To cast your line, press the left trigger and aim the lure close to the Goldenfish. Notice that it stands out among other fish due to its golden color, as shown in the picture.
