Where to find a Rime Beetle in Monster Hunter Wilds

As a devoted admirer, I’m always on the hunt for that elusive Rime Beetle in Monster Hunter Wilds – it’s part two of Samin’s mission to corral the region’s unique wildlife. Determined not to let my colleague Dareel outshine me, this tenacious researcher has once again cleverly manipulated me into assisting him track down an enigmatic version of the Forbidden Lands’ endemic lifeforms.

This time, we’re dealing with a beetle from the Iceshard Cliffs region, which is surprisingly easy to spot. In contrast, the challenge that Samin assigns later on might prove more difficult – keep an eye out for that. However, if you’re having trouble locating this elusive beetle, I’ll guide you through its whereabouts in the following paragraphs.

Monster Hunter Wilds Rime Beetle location

Rime Beetles can be spotted in specific areas: Area 2 on the Iceshard Cliffs has a small blue beetle icon on the map, which represents a creature rolling a snowball. You’ll also find them in area 11 and area 13 on the middle level, as well as area 7 and area 8 on the upper level. In essence, these areas are covered with snow, so if you want to locate these beetles, start by descending to level 1 (Area 2) and search for beetles that appear to be rolling small balls of snow.

As a seasoned gamer, I’ve come across these elusive creatures that blend seamlessly into the snowy landscapes. To locate them, keep an eye on their footprints instead. And here’s a tip: resist the urge to snag them with your Hook Slinger. It might seem like a smart move after all those hours of reeling in everything, but trust me, it won’t help advance your quest. Instead, it’ll only net you their unique ammo type without contributing to your progress.

Instead, similar to past samples, press and hold the left trigger on the controller, then navigate to the capture net among the essential items using the right joystick. These creatures don’t appear to flee, so you can aim with the LT button, wait for the box to turn orange, and afterwards, fire with the RT button to capture this native life. After obtaining the specimen, return it to Samin to finish the quest.

You’ll get 10 mandragora, five honey, and 100 Guild Points for your trouble.
