As a gamer, I’ve noticed a concerning trend where some Instagram videos I’ve come across have been quite disturbing, even with the highest sensitive content settings activated. I’ve seen everything from violent attacks to explicit material and other graphic content that didn’t align with my usual browsing preferences. Strangely, marking such posts as “Not Interested” didn’t seem to stop similar content from popping up in my feed.

Instagram usually deletes extremely graphic content like dismemberment or explicit material, while labeling sensitive posts with warnings. Their moderation system uses internal technology and a team of reviewers to screen out harmful content. However, due to a recent technical issue, some disturbing videos managed to bypass the filters.

The incident follows recent changes in Meta’s content moderation strategy. In January, the company announced it would focus on “high-severity violations” such as terrorism and child exploitation.
