Kathleen Kennedy Likely to Produce Star Wars Movie Even After Lucasfilm Exit

New details have emerged regarding Kathleen Kennedy‘s apparent departure from Lucasfilm. According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, it seems that Kennedy might still maintain a connection with the Star Wars universe in some form.

What do we know about Kathleen Kennedy’s Lucasfilm exit?

According to Sneider’s recent report, Kennedy’s departure from her position at Lucasfilm doesn’t necessarily mean she’s stepping away from Star Wars completely; instead, she plans to continue producing projects in the Star Wars universe for years to come. Sneider uses Amy Pascal’s shift from Sony and continued involvement as a producer on the Tom Holland Spider-Man films as an example.

Additionally, the document notes that Kennedy is expected to be credited as a producer in Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars film and Simon Kinberg’s proposed trilogy as well.

Just a few days ago, according to reports from Puck News by Matthew Belloni, it was mentioned that Kathleen Kennedy, who has held the presidency at Disney’s Lucasfilm since 2012, intends to step down by the year’s end.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share some intriguing insights I stumbled upon. It seems that, according to certain sources, Kathleen was contemplating departure last year, and had even arranged an exit interview with a journalist. However, she ultimately chose to extend her tenure by another year.

During Kennedy’s tenure at Lucasfilm, a fresh Star Wars movie was unveiled annually starting from 2015. These included ‘The Force Awakens’ in 2015, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ in 2016, ‘The Last Jedi’ in 2017, ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ in 2018, and lastly ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ in 2019.
