These days, it’s quite normal for films, particularly those in the superhero genre, to experience delays. For instance, the release of DC’s The Batman 2 was pushed back a full year from its original 2026 date to 2027.
Clearly, it’s not unexpected that Sony has decided to postpone their upcoming Spider-Man movie. What is surprising, however, is the minor delay – just one week – pushing the release date from July 24th, 2026 to July 31st, 2026.
The reason for the seven-day shift is due to Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, “The Odyssey,” starring Matt Damon and Tom Holland. Originally scheduled for its second week, it would have been in competition with “Spider-Man” not only for box office revenue but also for IMAX screens. This change allows Nolan’s film to have two uninterrupted weeks in theaters, placing “Spider-Man” against “Paw Patrol 3” instead.
Anyone think Paw Patrol needs IMAX theater screens?
