In simple terms, there’s been a new update for The Sims 4 which includes a criminal character, and the gaming community is thrilled about it!
The Sims 4
It’s hard to believe it’s been over six years since I first played The Sims 4 on Windows. Over time, the game has also made its way onto macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While there were plenty of familiar features and a wealth of new content, one thing was conspicuously absent: the thrill of coming home to find my house broken into at night!
It turns out, an element that once made several players quite anxious, the unpredictable occurrence of burglaries in the game, was dearly missed when it was taken away – without danger, there’s no thrill, seems to be the consensus.
But there’s good news: The Burglar is finally back!
Return Of The Burglar
I’m thrilled to share that in a developer diary post, the legendary Game Designer Xènia revealed that the Burglar is making a comeback for our beloved franchise’s 25th anniversary! This mischievous character has been added to The Sims 4, along with the brand-new “The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies” Expansion Pack. Can’t wait to get my hands on it!
Here’s how the criminal works:
The infamous Robin Banks (yep, that’s her name—we couldn’t resist) only strikes at night, sneaking into your Sim’s home while everyone is fast asleep (or even if they are awake!). Before you know it, she’ll be grabbing whatever’s valuable and making her escape. – Game Designer Xènia
How To Defend Yourself Against The Burglar
Don’t fret: There are multiple methods to safeguard yourself from a burglar. One simple approach accessible to all is to promptly have one of your Sims dial the police, ensuring they can apprehend her before she escapes.
A more secure choice would be to set up a Home Security System, or Burglar Alarm, which allows for an upgrade ensuring that any potential intruder will be apprehended promptly. If you’re willing to take a chance, you can opt for your Sim to engage in combat; the odds are increased if your Sim is well-conditioned and physically fit.
Additionally, certain character types boast distinctive defensive capabilities, as detailed in the developer diary:
