Destiny 2 devs confirm they cannot bring back old content wanted by fans

Fans of Destiny 2 can look forward to some fresh updates in the near future. Recent leaks suggest a new mode for Episode Heresy, and according to the 2025 roadmap, we’re also anticipating an expansion called Apollo. Although this new content is enticing, there are Destiny 2 enthusiasts who wish to see a comeback of beloved past elements. However, disappointingly, Bungie has confirmed that they won’t be able to reinstate the old Destiny 2 content that fans desire.

Bungie confirm they cannot bring back old Destiny 2 content

In an entirely distinct legal case from the $200 million lawsuit brought forward by a former D2 director, science fiction author Matthew Kelsey Martineau has levied accusations of plagiarism against Bungie.

Bungie denies the allegations that they copied the Red War campaign’s Red Legion faction, effectively verifying that the content is no longer available and cannot be restored. The accusation made by Martineau specifically targets this aspect of the game.

It’s unfortunate that reviving the Red War campaign would essentially require a full rebuild, and as a consequence, other pre-Beyond Light content may not return either.

It’s sad to say, but resurrecting the Red War campaign would necessitate a total overhaul, implying that earlier content before Beyond Light might not be reintroduced again.

Players of Destiny 2, reacting to recent Reddit posts, express disappointment, although not entirely shocked. The longing isn’t just for a return of the Red War campaign, but also for elements like the “Journey mission” tune, which holds fond memories for many. Some enthusiastically voice their desire for the Leviathan Raid to make a comeback, while it’s suggested that bringing back old content could greatly benefit new players, as 75% of the original storyline is currently missing from their experience.

In regards to further developments with Destiny 2, recent leaks suggest the emergence of a powerful weapon that seems almost unfair to use, and Sony has addressed a $200 million lawsuit filed against them by a former director of the game.
