One of Elden Ring’s best mods comes to Dark Souls 3 as a prolific FromSoftware modder gets seamless co-op up and running

An exceptionally skilled modder has managed to introduce multiplayer cooperation to another game from FromSoftware. By making it possible for gamers to enjoy titles such as Elden Ring, Sekiro, Armored Core 6, and most recently Dark Souls 3 with friends, Yui has once again demonstrated this capability.

On their Ko-Fi page, they’ve unveiled an early test version of Dark Souls 3: Seamless Co-op, now available on Nexus Mods. They mention there are a few finishing touches left, but encourage players to give it a spin, enjoy, and report any glitches or problems so they can be addressed, ensuring the mod improves in the future.

Yui’s modification primarily removes the cooperative limitations, allowing you to play continuously with your team rather than intermittently. This means that when defeating bosses or clearing areas, no allies will be sent back home, and the fog barriers that typically confine multiplayer zones are eliminated, among other changes.

Absolutely, there’s a lot more depth to it. Up to six of you can explore the vast open-world together, and if a player perishes, they’ll reappear in the same world at the last checkpoint they rested at (known as a bonfire). Additionally, NPC interactions and dialogue events will be synchronized across all players.

With enhanced user-friendly features like seamless gameplay connections, this modification clearly simplifies the gaming experience. However, don’t worry about losing the challenge as it offers bigger health reserves and innovative mechanics to keep things interesting. Remember, we’re still talking about Dark Souls here! For those daring enough, there’s an option for intrusive battles, offering a full-on fight.
