The Batman’s Robert Pattinson Won’t Be in DCU, James Gunn Comments

James Gunn has provided his clearest statement thus far about whether Robert Pattinson will play Batman in the DC Universe.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that I, Robert Pattinson, am donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. I’m set to return to the role for a sequel slated to hit theaters in 2027. In the meantime, James Gunn and Peter Safran have kicked off the DCU at Warner Bros. An exciting project based on Batman, inspired by The Brave and the Bold, is being developed by Andy Muschietti for us to enjoy in the future.

Previously, Gunn mentioned he had considered having Pattinson play Batman in the DC Universe; however, he also added that he often ponders and discusses various ideas, saying “I consider everything. I talk about everything.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he shared that he was dedicated to narrating tales within the DC Universe as well as Elseworlds stories. He yearned for the flexibility to explore Elseworlds stories…What we aim for is the ability to experiment with these characters in various manners.

What did James Gunn say about Robert Pattinson and the DCU?

According to Variety’s latest report, it seems extremely improbable that Robert Pattinson will feature in the DC Universe or appear in The Brave and the Bold.

According to an article by Variety, it’s not ruled out that the character might appear in the DC Universe before their standalone movie.

Gunn stated that he’s not dismissing any possibilities. The character might appear in another project, but for now, the actor hasn’t been created.

Fans might need to be patient until 2027 for Robert Pattinson’s reprisal of the Caped Crusader in The Batman Part II. Yet, director James Gunn hints that Batman might make an appearance earlier within the DCU, possibly in his Clayface movie focusing on the infamous Batman antagonist. It’s worth mentioning that Batman made a cameo in an episode of Creature Commandos, but he didn’t say anything, so no one has been officially cast for the role as of now.
