On December 5, Allu Arjun’s movie “Pushpa: The Rule” premiered in cinemas, raking in significant earnings at the box office. Although the film generally garnered favorable reviews, certain critics have described it as containing cringeworthy moments.
In the months following its premiere, a teacher hailing from Yousufguda, Hyderabad, voiced disapproval towards the movie creators, arguing that they were inadvertently endorsing immodesty among contemporary young people.
As reported by Hindustan Times, the teacher voiced her worries to the Education Commission of India that the character of Pushpa may be having a detrimental impact on children. In her remarks, she expressed her sense of powerlessness as an administrator when her students exhibit risky behavior after being influenced by mass media.
She continued by stating, “Their extreme fashion choices in hairdos and their use of crude language are problematic. Yet, we seem to overlook this issue, focusing instead on academics. This trend isn’t exclusive to government schools; it’s also prevalent in private institutions. As a school administrator, I can’t help but feel that I’m falling short.
In a deeper discussion, she voiced apprehensions regarding handling student discipline, fearing it could provoke impulsive actions. “It appears they’re unresponsive, even when we engage their parents over these matters,” she pointed out. Moreover, she openly criticized a film featuring Allu Arjun for shaping student conduct and directed her worries towards the film certification authority.
In many cases where statements stir debate, there’s often a split in opinion. On one hand, some people back the teacher’s viewpoint. On the other, some contend that movies don’t carry as much impact over children as suggested.
On X (previously known as Twitter), a user commented, “Her statement rings true. Certain individuals can be swayed by films like these.
A different user said, “It seems strange that you’d be swayed to teach students for free after watching the SIR film.
The topic about the influence of mainstream movies on society keeps popping up frequently. Lately, there has been a fuss regarding Ranbir Kapoor’s role in “Animal,” with questions being raised about whether such depictions might have a negative impact on viewers. Now, the film “Pushpa: The Rule” is sparking another round of this debate.
