Nanamica’s iconic Cruiser Jacket has undergone some technological updates. Over the weekend, this Japanese fashion brand showcased a completely new version of their popular coat, incorporating Spiber’s Brewed Protein™ – a top-tier plant-based material. This innovative fabric is produced using fermentation technology, offering a sustainable approach to protein fiber production.
The Brewed Protein™ fibers can be adjusted to give off a “silk-like luster and fragility, a lavish softness similar to cashmere, or the fluffiness of premium wool,” as stated by the brand. Due to its plant-based composition and complex fermentation method, it minimizes environmental footprint and concerns related to animal welfare.
The design of this jacket resembles the classic Cruiser Jacket, featuring a single-handed snap closure at the front and a detachable hood that doubles as a stand collar. The pockets, both patch and flap types, are equipped with double-layered construction for warmth in the hands, and there’s a secure pocket conveniently placed on the left chest. Lastly, the design includes an adjustable waistline to provide a comfortable fit.
The nanamica Cruiser Jacket infused with Spiber’s Brewed Protein™ is now up for grabs on their online store and their New York store situated at 123 Wooster St, New York, NY 10012, priced at $1,600 USD. Browse the design in the gallery above for a closer look.
