If you’re not already familiar, the movie “Nayakan,” which hit the screens in 1987, was Mani Ratnam’s inaugural project with Kamal Haasan. This film portrayed the tale of Sakthivel Naicker, a gangster who earned renown for his kind-hearted demeanor.
Originating from humble beginnings as a resident of the bustling city’s slums, I eventually ascended to become one of the most revered figures in the criminal underworld, subtly influencing even my foes in diverse manners. The film that garnered cult status, though loosely inspired by the life tale of Bombay’s notorious gangster Varadarajan Mudaliar, took cues from the iconic Hollywood production, The Godfather.
In the starring position was Haasan, while the movie showcased a talented array of actors such as Saranya, Janagaraj, Delhi Ganesh, Karthika, Nizhalgal Ravi, Nassar, Tinnu Anand, and several others in pivotal roles.
In 2025, the acclaimed actor-director duo is all set to create a stir yet again in cinemas with their upcoming film titled “Thug Life”. This gritty action movie sees Silambarasan TR sharing screen space, and the cast also boasts Trisha Krishnan, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Abhirami, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, among others, in significant roles.
