In the upcoming DC Comics series, Superman Unlimited, set in May, an enormous asteroid filled with Kryptonite, Superman’s Achilles’ heel, plummets to Earth, making it the most sought-after resource worldwide. This influx of Kryptonite alters the power dynamics within criminal organizations like Intergang, who are now thriving under new leadership and arming their soldiers with Kryptonite bullets. The asteroid has also left behind vast deposits of Kryptonite waiting to be mined, harboring yet unknown horrors. To endure this new threat, Superman must form new partnerships, develop innovative technology, and devise novel strategies if he is to continue his mission for truth, justice, and a brighter future.

In this new storyline, “Superman Unlimited” won’t just make Superman’s enemies abundant with almost unlimited Kryptonite. Instead, the Daily Planet undergoes a significant transformation. Through a merger with a modernized version of Morgan Edge’s Galaxy Communications, the Daily Planet evolves into a multifaceted news platform. This expansion includes a cable news channel, a robust website, strong social media presence, and, yes, Lois Lane continues as editor-in-chief. The Daily Planet regulars such as Jimmy Olsen, Ron Troupe, Cat Grant, and Steve Lombard will staff various branches across the DC universe, creating a global network. Powering it all is the tech expertise of a fresh IT specialist from Gorilla City, King Solovar’s goddaughter, Tee-Nah.

On May 21st, 2025, Superman Unlimited #1 will hit the shelves. Before that, a ten-page preview by Slott and Albuquerque will be featured in the DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1, which is set to release on May 3rd, 2025 as part of DC’s Free Comic Book Day promotions.

Gunn’s DCU Superman movie, meanwhile, releases on July 11, 2025.
