Ryan Reynold’s Didn’t Pitch Controversial SNL Justin Baldoni Joke — Report

The debate sparked by Ryan Reynold’s joke during SNL’s 50th Anniversary Special remains unresolved. A fresh development emerges, as a new report indicates that the Deadpool actor may not have written the joke about the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni controversy himself. This claim follows a statement from an established SNL crew member who suggested that Reynolds had initially prepared a different comment for the event.

Check out this update about the recent advancements in the tale connected to the well-known SNL joke that’s become synonymous with Ryan Reynolds.

SNL denies that Ryan Reynolds wrote the Blake Lively joke

In a recent chat on the Fifi, Fev & Nick podcast, veteran Saturday Night Live (SNL) crew member Wally Feresten, who’s been with the show for 35 years, shared an interesting tidbit. He revealed that during SNL’s 50th Anniversary Special, Ryan Reynolds had prepared a different response to the question posed by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey: “How’s it going?” Instead of his actual answer, “Great. Why? What have you heard?”, it appears that Reynolds initially intended to make a subtle reference to the ongoing legal issues between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni from the movie “It Ends With Us”.

Instead of the original line, Ryan Reynolds had a different suggestion during rehearsals, which he proposed himself. This idea came directly from him. To avoid any potential controversy, we usually don’t stray too far unless everyone is on board. Yes, that was indeed his line and his idea.

After that statement, a representative for SNL has refuted Feresten’s allegations about Reynolds’ role in the joke. In a statement given to People, the spokesperson explained that Feresten is not an SNL writer and doesn’t participate in their creative process. A person close to Reynolds agreed with this, adding that the opening joke was initially proposed by SNL and remained unchanged throughout. The follow-up joke about the Coneheads was rewritten during rehearsals instead.

As I write this, Ryan Reynolds hasn’t publicly announced if he will participate in Saturday Night Live’s 50th Anniversary Special yet.
