Undertale’s Toby Fox About Next Deltarune Chapter: “I Hope It Works!”

Fans have been longingly waiting for the next Deltarune chapters, and the wait might be over soon.

Deltarune

Deltarune is a continuation of the 2015 role-playing game Undertale, but unlike Undertale which was released as a complete game, Deltarune has been divided into chapters. The first chapter came out in 2018, and the second one followed in 2021. Since then, the gaming community has been eagerly awaiting more content for this intriguing series.

The new content primarily depends on Toby Fox, the creator and multi-talented mind behind both games, Undertale and Deltarune. He not only developed and designed these games but also composed their soundtracks. In essence, he’s a master of various aspects. Recently, Toby Fox has shared updates about the upcoming chapters of Deltarune on BlueSky, an app similar to Twitter that some individuals opposed to Elon Musk use.

Announcements On New Chapters

Instead of a single post, Fox has set up a continuous stream of updates for announcements on his BlueSky forum.

Initially, on January 6th, a post was shared revealing that the fourth chapter of ‘Deltarune’ was undergoing bug-testing on personal computers. Later, on January 21st, additional details about translations were disclosed and updates were provided about the progress of the testing process to the community.

Translation: The text and implementation are done, working on fixing some last issues. Testing: Still ongoing. One tester said “players will find it very inconvenient that you cannot save or load in the Light World”… I was initially resistant, but I decided to add Save Points there in Chapter 4. – Toby Fox

He later revealed that the console testing began on February 4, with the game set to release on PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A more recent declaration made on February 17 states the following:

Afterwards, he disclosed that the console testing started on February 4, indicating that the game would be available for PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5. The latest announcement dated February 17 is as follows:

Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there’s a lot to go through. (Haven’t even tested PS5 yet). In addition to fixing Ch3/Ch4, we also need to implement having saves from the DEMO carry over to the main game on consoles… We only received the technology to do this now. I hope it works! – Toby Fox

It seems like advancements are being made and fresh content could be on its way, even though the phrase “I hope it works!” implies that fans might have to wait a bit more. However, this could also mean that it’s reassuring to know that someone is fixing issues in their game before launching it instead of afterward.
