Half of the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Naomi, is keen on competing against the ex-Divas Champion, AJ Lee. Having established herself as a seasoned wrestler and a respected figure in the locker room, Naomi has expressed her desire for another bout with AJ Lee.
Since her retirement in 2015, AJ Lee has been devoting her time to various personal endeavors. Her final match with the WWE was on the March 30, 2015 episode of RAW, where she joined forces with Naomi and Paige to defeat Natalya and The Bella Twins. However, since CM Punk re-joined WWE in 2023, there has been increased chatter about a possible return for AJ Lee.
Numerous prominent female wrestlers, such as Liv Morgan, Bayley, Cora Jade, and now Naomi, are voicing their desire for AJ Lee’s comeback. These stars have expressed their excitement about potentially battling her in the ring. Notably, Naomi, who has previously collaborated with Lee and seeks another encounter, also desires a rematch.
Despite being over 10 years since her departure, whispers of AJ Lee’s return continue to persist. It has been disclosed by Naomi that she intends to remain active in the WWE until AJ Lee returns, creating an opportunity for them to battle each other once more.
Naomi says she can’t retire until AJ Lee returns to WWE for a match
During an appearance on The Wrestling Classic, Naomi expressed that she’s repeatedly asked CM Punk to persuade AJ Lee to make a comeback. She candidly said, “CM Punk, it’s time you tell her I can’t retire unless she returns. AJ, you really need to join us because my back is aching. It’s hurting.
She went on to say, ‘I won’t retire until she returns… It’s astonishing that she’s been gone for over a decade, and yet she’s still deeply missed and yearned for. I believe this says a lot about her impact on women’s wrestling and the person she was. Therefore, I think it would be a delight, a gift, a recognition, if she were to return, even if it’s just a brief ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye.'” [Credit: Postwrestling]
In a recent conversation, AJ Lee, who’s been away from professional wrestling for almost a decade, mentioned that she currently admires Naomi and Bayley among the WWE Superstars active on the roster.
