Upon hearing the not-guilty decision from the Los Angeles jury, A$AP Rocky made a beeline towards Rihanna, embracing her warmly. The courtroom erupted in applause as the rapper rejoiced with his family and friends. Throughout the trial, Rihanna was seated nearby, alongside A$AP Rocky’s mother and sister, offering him unwavering support. As the jurors left the courtroom, A$AP Rocky expressed gratitude, stating, “I owe you all a debt of gratitude for saving my life” (as reported by Associated Press).

Judge Mark Arnold ended the case by saying “Mr. Mayers (A$AP Rocky), you’re free to go.” Previously, A$AP Rocky refused a pre-trial agreement that would have involved six months in prison and probation. The prosecution claimed that on November 6, 2021, in Hollywood, A$AP Rocky shot at another person, A$AP Relli. According to Relli’s testimony, one bullet grazed his knuckle. However, the defense maintained that the gun carried by Rocky was a prop gun that fired blanks, used as a warning shot.

In the final part of his speech, attorney Joe Tacopina expressed that Rocky rejected a deal offering minimal jail time as he maintained his innocence. He labeled Relli as an enraged compulsive liar, who repeatedly lied under oath, not just once, but multiple times.

John Lewin, the Deputy District Attorney, told the jury, “You mustn’t factor in how this decision might influence Rihanna and his family.” Following the verdict, District Attorney Nathan Hochman reiterated the office’s dedication, saying, “Our office continues to prioritize ensuring justice for those who violate the law, regardless of their status.

Standing exterior of the courthouse, Rocky expressed, “The past four years have been utterly wild. I’m grateful and fortunate to be here today, speaking with you all as a free man.” Tacopina commented, “His feelings were genuine… For us, it was just as intense.
