Cliff Bleszinski, a former developer at Epic Games and head of Boss Key Productions, who is largely out of the gaming scene now, still finds time to explore creative ideas within the game industry. Recently, he revealed some artwork and sketches for a game idea called Panic Garden, which encompassed logos, characters, settings, enemies, weapons, and other elements.
This week, Cliff Bleszinski unveiled the resources for his game concept called Panic Garden through his social media platforms. He described the fundamental idea as a blend between Left 4 Dead and Plants Vs. Zombies, implying that players would wield enhanced lawn tools like turbo-charged chainsaws and mowers as weapons, along with various cranky, destructible plants. Bleszinski also mentioned utilizing AI image generation software such as Midjourney and Grok to visualize some of the ideas.
For quite some time now, I’ve been refining a concept for a game that has occupied my thoughts over the past couple of years.
I recently had the opportunity to bring this idea to life, but after careful contemplation, I chose not to move forward with it.
However, I felt compelled to share my thoughts on the matter, as I’ve put a great deal of effort into developing this concept.
I utilized AI art in order to convey my idea more effectively (specifically Midjourney/Grok.)

Essentially, Panic Garden is a concept that has stayed within Bleszinski’s thoughts and the collection of his artistic creations. Bleszinski states he was given an opportunity to bring Panic Garden to life, but he chose not to proceed with it. The previous leader of Boss Key Productions hasn’t been involved in gaming for a considerable period, yet he did support a fan-made project for LawBreakers which enabled the game to be played online once more. Additionally, he has been occupied with other creative ventures such as writing an original comic book, planned for release in 2023.
It’s intriguing to observe the possibilities that Cliff Bleszinski might explore in game development, especially after being away from the gaming industry for quite some time. As of now, it seems he’s not planning a return, but keep an eye on Shacknews for any future developments.
