Nawazuddin Siddiqui RECALLS crying after his role was cut from Kamal Haasan’s Hey Ram

25 years ago, Kamal Haasan’s movie “Hey Ram,” where he both directed and acted, hit the screens. Interestingly, it was initially planned for Nawazuddin Siddiqui to play a significant role in this production.

In an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, Nawazuddin revealed that initially, he was cast in the movie Hey Ram, but his part got removed before the final edition was released.

Speaking about the emotional impact of the event, he mentioned, “The film’s debut took place at Film City in Mumbai, and I made sure to invite at least five to six of my friends. I shared with them that I had contributed to the movie’s production, and all of them attended.

Before the movie started, Kamal himself informed me that my scene had been removed and I needed to tell my friends about it in advance, Nawazuddin reminisced. He also expressed his sadness and feared that this change might lead others to make fun of him.

After expressing this, the actor admitted that he wept in front of his companions upon learning his scene had been cut. At this poignant instance, it was Kamal Haasan’s daughter, Shruti Haasan, who empathized with him and attempted to offer comfort.

Ram, the movie featuring Kamal Haasan in the main part, is an epic historical drama offering an alternate version of India’s history. Directed and produced by Haasan himself, it narrates the story of Saket Ram, who, upon losing his wife, becomes disillusioned with Mahatma Gandhi due to mob violence and the division of India.

On a path to kill Gandhi, Saket Ram becomes part of an extremist organization, propelling him on a transformative voyage of self-discovery.

In addition to Kamal Haasan, the movie Hey Ram boasts a star-studded cast, including Shah Rukh Khan, Hema Malini, Vasundhara Das, Girish Karnad, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, and Atul Kulkarni in significant roles.

This movie was produced simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi. Upon its debut, it received positive reviews from critics, but failed to gain commercial popularity. You can stream this film on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, JioHotstar, and YouTube.
