Kate Winslet to Star & Direct Netflix Drama Movie Goodbye June

Award-winning actress Kate Winslet is set to make her first directorial appearance in a family drama titled “Goodbye June,” produced by Netflix. Not only will she be directing the film, but Winslet will also take on the lead role and produce the movie, with filming scheduled to begin later this year in the U.K.

The story is based in modern-day England and focuses on a divided family of siblings who find unity amid unexpected and challenging situations.

Who is involved in Goodbye June?

In this upcoming movie titled “Goodbye June,” acting talents such as Helen Mirren (“The Queen”), Toni Collette (“Hereditary”), Johnny Flynn (“Emma”), Andrea Riseborough (“To Leslie”), and Timothy Spall (“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”) will join forces. Kate Winslet, who is also in the cast, will be helming the director’s chair for this project. The screenplay was penned by Joe Anders, Winslet’s son, who has previously acted in films like “1917” and the upcoming 2023 music rom-com “Bonus Track.” Produced by Kate Solomon, the film is a production of Working Title, with the same company also serving as executive producers.

Their newest joint effort, following their roles in the 2023 biopic “Lee”, finds Kate Winslet and Idris Elba teaming up once more. They are slated to appear in the upcoming Netflix miniseries “East of Eden,” penned by Zoe Kazan and directed by Garth Davis. At present, production on this project is ongoing. After “Goodbye June”, Winslet will next be seen in James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash”, where she returns to her character from 2022’s “The Way of Water”. Her most recent endeavor was the HBO miniseries “The Regime”, where she portrayed chancellor Elena Vernham.
