The Munich terrorist attack that happened on September 5, 1972, was the very first televised terrorist attack, broadcast to the world. 900 million people were watching.
17 people lost their lives during a devastating attack. Among them were 11 Israeli athletes and coaches, one German policeman, and five Palestinian militants. The incident began when five heavily-armed Palestinian militants invaded the dormitory of the Israeli Olympic team and murdered two athletes. After two days, they all boarded a helicopter to the airport where a prolonged gunfight ensued. As a result, nine athletes, five militants, and one German policeman were unfortunately killed.
This movie portrays events as if it’s a live reality show, offering a multi-perspective account of what happened from within the TV studio during the broadcast of the Munich Olympics. It features rapid sequences of action and quick decision-making, often based on unconfirmed rumors. The most captivating aspect of this film is that it presents the perspectives of all ABC staff members and executives involved in the televising process.
