When do You Need the Fever Tonic Herbs & Potion in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

As I delved deeper into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, I found myself on a pivotal mission titled “For Whom the Bell Tolls.” In this quest, my primary objective was to acquire a Fever Tonic for the first time. The urgency stemmed from the dire situation of Hans Capon, who was scheduled to be hanged due to false accusations.
The only individual capable of halting the execution and vouching for Hans’ noble lineage was none other than Captain Thomas of Trosky. However, he lay ill and his sister, despite her efforts, could not provide any cure or ointment to help him recover. It was up to me to find a solution and save both Hans and Captain Thomas.
Here, it’s Henry who takes action. He proposes to go to the doctor’s office to seek a resolution, which eventually calls for a Fever Tonic.
How to Get Ingredients for the Fever Tonic in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To craft the Fever Tonic, you will need three key ingredients:
- Feverfew
- Elderberry Leaves
- Ginger
In the game world, these herbs can either be gathered from nature or bought from various traders specializing in apothecary goods. Yet, during the For Whom the Bell Tolls quest when saving Sir Thomas, this isn’t an available option. Instead, you’ll need to find a locked chest in the physician’s room, as it holds all the essential ingredients required for brewing the potion.
How to Get Lockpicks
To open the chest, you will need a lockpick. Here is how to get one:
- Head to the Stables of Trosky Castle and speak with Kabat, a local trader.
- If you have enough Groschen, you can simply buy a lockpick from him.
- If you are short on funds, Kabat will ask you to retrieve his stolen rosary from Father Nicodemus. You can get the rosary back by either winning it in a game of dice or looting it from Father Nicodemus’ purse.
- Once you return the rosary to Kabat, he will reward you with a couple of free lockpicks.
As I clutch my lockpicks, I’m ready to open the mysterious chest hidden within the physician’s chamber. Inside this treasure trove lies the secret formula for the Fever Tonic, a crucial ingredient for brewing the potion that will save Thomas’ life and advance our shared quest.

What to do with Fever Tonic Outside Main Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
In the story “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” Henry must create a special potion called Fever Tonic specifically for this quest. This potion’s main job is to treat Sir Thomas’ fever so he can act in time and prevent Hans Capon from being executed.
After completing the quest, the Fever Tonic holds no advantage for Henry personally as it doesn’t enhance his wellbeing or stats in any way, effectively rendering it superfluous outside of the quest.
The potion may not be incredibly useful on its own, but if you’ve managed to collect extra ingredients or brew additional potions, you can make a profit by selling them to herbalists or merchants. Selling Fever Tonics can be quite profitable, particularly if you’re aiming to boost your income.
