This year’s highly anticipated Malayalam romantic comedy film “Painkili,” starring Sajin Gopu and Anaswara Rajan in the main roles, is now playing in cinemas, debuting on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, under the direction of Sreejith Babu.
Without a doubt, eager moviegoers flooded the cinemas, anticipating a roaring good time. But judging from reactions, it seems the movie has sparked a variety of reviews, ranging from mediocre to unfavorable. Many online users have voiced their thoughts about the film on social media too.
As an ardent admirer, I couldn’t help but jump onto X (once known as Twitter) and express my thoughts about the movie. I proclaimed Painkili to be a pure comedy extravaganza, free of any constraints. I went on to say that this film serves as an ideal antidote for weekend stress, offering a plethora of “stupidly funny” scenes that had me rolling with laughter. Moreover, I couldn’t help but sing the praises of Sajin Gopu’s performance, which I believe is the movie’s standout aspect.
The movie was pointed out as having excessive humor throughout, but the buildup to the climax and the climax itself were disappointing. Despite this, the performance of actor Sajin Gopu was commended, suggesting that the film could be suitable for streaming online.
Yet, it’s important to note that not every critique of Painkili was negative. One viewer, in particular, expressed a unique perspective, saying they felt like they had attended an “overacting competition” after watching the movie. They pointed out that while all performances were equally intense, Ambaan (Sajin Gopu’s character from Fahadh Faasil’s film Aavesham) stood out by overacting, even during the mandatory warning scene.
