Valentine’s Day Throwback: How Mahesh Babu keeps the spark alive in his marriage with Namrata Shirodkar

On Valentine’s Day, we look back at the moment when Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar spoke candidly about their relationship. In a chat with Deccan Chronicle, this couple revealed their secrets to maintaining their bond and keeping the romance alive amidst hectic work schedules. Namrata emphasized that love is a personal experience that deepens over time.

She stated that since their bond is without conditions, they don’t necessarily follow a particular plan or strategy. Additionally, the ex-actress noted that when Mahesh Babu is available, they go on impromptu trips together, and she often accompanies him, even if she has ongoing commitments.

Love can be quite personal and it tends to expand over time. I don’t believe there’s a specific method or plan to it. It’s mostly without conditions. Whenever Mahesh is available, we spontaneously go on trips, and I’ll tag along with him even if I have work commitments.

In 2005, Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar exchanged vows. Prior to this, during an interview, the actor from Guntur Kaaram fondly recalled wrapping up filming for Athadu just the night before their special day. As soon as he completed the shoot, he swiftly traveled for the wedding ceremony.

Namrata mentioned that she’d been occupied with work over the past week prior to our conversation. Since she didn’t have a moment to spare for preparations, her sister, brother-in-law, and parents took care of everything instead. In contrast, Mahesh shared his concerns were not about feeling anxious but rather on how people outside their immediate family would respond, as the wedding wasn’t extensively publicized.

Speaking further on her upcoming nuptials, Namrata referred to them as a “low-key” and “intimate gathering.” She was grateful that, unlike extravagant weddings with vast numbers of guests, theirs enabled them to savor private moments together. Her most precious recollection is the saat pheras ceremony. Although their wedding adhered to Telugu traditions, the Tirupati priests took the time to clarify each ritual in simple Hindi, which she found thoughtful and considerate.

Speaking about Mahesh Babu, the ex-Miss India expressed her admiration for his unique trait of keeping his work separate from home. She noted that this quality isn’t common among many actors. When he’s at home, he embodies the role of a loving father and husband, which she finds truly remarkable. What initially drew her to him was his excellent sense of humor.

The pair has just marked two decades of being a duo, weathering numerous highs and lows along the way. Their family includes two radiant kids, Sitara and Gautam Ghattamaneni.
