Where’s Hulk? Shocking Absence of Bruce Banner and She-Hulk in Captain America 4!

I’m wondering if either Bruce Banner’s Hulk or She-Hulk makes an appearance in Captain America: Brave New World? With characters from The Incredible Hulk coming back, there’s been a lot of talk among fans about possible surprise guest stars.

Here’s what we know so far about Hulk, She-Hulk, and their connection to Captain America 4.

Do Bruce Banner’s Hulk and She-Hulk cameo in Captain America 4: Brave New World?

Bruce Banner’s Hulk and She-Hulk do not appear in Captain America 4: Brave New World.

In February 2024, Mark Ruffalo initially said he would play Bruce Banner/Hulk again (according to Collider), but Variety later clarified that Ruffalo had made a mistake and will not appear in the movie.

Contrary to popular assumption because of the appearance of characters such as Betty Ross, The Leader, and Red Hulk, the movie primarily follows an intense, realistic action-thriller storyline that doesn’t actually feature The Hulk.

In this movie, they refer to Bruce Banner, implying he’s part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe even though we don’t see him. Fans have been guessing that Banner is living somewhere else, perhaps on Sakaar, spending time with his son Skaar since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The fact that he’s not present fits with the film’s fresh start for the MCU, as it introduces new ideas and adversaries without directly involving the Hulk.

In her last appearance, She-Hulk was noticed residing in Los Angeles. Her professional life as a lawyer persists alongside her superhero responsibilities. The tone of the upcoming film, according to Kevin Feige and Anthony Mackie, resembles Captain America: The Winter Soldier, focusing on political intrigues and human struggles. This narrative style seems to exclude She-Hulk’s unique fourth-wall-breaking approach.

The movie features important figures connected to the Hulk and even explores Hulk-centric themes, but surprisingly omits both Hulk and She-Hulk. Instead, it primarily follows Sam Wilson’s story as Captain America. This decision is made to initiate a fresh chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), though it’s worth noting that Hulk has significant ties with these characters and their struggles.

Captain America: Brave New World is now in theatres.
