In a recent conversation, the filmmaker has revealed that the reality of a Constantine sequel is nearly at hand.
During an interview with Maggie Lovitt from Collider, Francis Lawrence shared that the team is now closer than ever before to making a sequel, which is fantastic news. He also mentioned that Akiva Goldsman, Keanu Reeves, and himself are extremely enthusiastic about this potential new project.
Lawrence additionally shared that he and his crew found a method to reintroduce Keanu Reeves in Constantine 2, following extensive research through numerous comic books featuring the brooding exorcist. “We’ve come up with an excellent concept,” said the director of I Am Legend, “We delved into many comics over time and examined various elements.
After that, Lawrence elaborated on how the trio’s deep affection for the character played a significant role in shaping Constantine 2. “To put it simply, we are drawing from various sources, but essentially, most of it originates from the three of us, with our shared passion for the character and the world,” he said. “Over the past two decades, we’ve been nurturing ideas, stories, and characters that resonate with us, and these have been subtly brewing in the back of our minds.”
Although Francis Lawrence offered optimistic remarks, Warner Bros. Pictures has not disclosed any specifics about the Constantine sequel’s release date as of now.
